How It Begins
One more drink, they said, but it wasn't even one more bar. Now it is very late, or rather, very, very early.
You promised your wife, Miriam, that you would be back hours ago. You promised her that you would never stay out drinking all night again.
Now you're at your front door, and Miriam is upstairs asleep in bed. You need to get there, and she needs to stay asleep.
